Depending on which update frequency is set, how actively Trax Play is used and the coverage in the area, the battery life can range from about 10-12 hours to 2-3 days (software version 14.16.12.7)
By default, Trax Play is a live tracking device sending position updates every 15 seconds to the mobile app. As with all electronic devices, the battery will drain faster if it is more active. For example, with a smartphone, the battery will drain a lot faster in a 3-hour phone call compared to a 30-minute call.
Update frequency set to LIVE TRACKING (default)
(position updates every 15 seconds):
According to tests in Stockholm (Sweden) the battery lasts around 10-12 hours if the device is constantly on the move. This can vary depending on the location. Should the GPS or GSM coverage in your area be low, the device will need more battery to establish a connection than when the signal is high. The battery life is prolonged when the tracker has stand-by periods (Trax will go into sleep mode when idle for 5 min).
Update frequency set to BATTERY SAVING MODE
(position updates from every 5 minutes to every hour):
Customize the update frequency yourself and get more battery. As a general rule of thumb, the fewer updates per hour, the longer the battery will last. The battery life expectancy for now is 2-3 days of mixed usage (active + standby time).
